CBS Roscommon vs Ballyhaunis Community School
Another victory for the CBS juvenile football team this time against Ballyhaunis CS in the Connacht league quarter final in Ballyhaunis GAA ground.
It was Ballyhaunis who got off to a good start with their midfielder scoring the opening point of the game, a quick reply from the CBS forwards such as Peter Gillooly and Darragh Walsh who exchanged points to leave the CBS 0-4 to 0-1 ahead after 10 minutes, Followed by a lucky goal credited to Aaron Casey who flicked a Gillooly cross which hit off a defender and into the net, Liam Ormsby added another point. At the break the CBS lead by 1-8 to 0-4. The CBS backs such as Kyle Walsh, Dylan Horan and Jack Lohan in particular were keeping Ballyhaunis at bay. Cian Murrays surging runs from midfield were causing problems for the Ballyhaunis rear guard.
The second half began and it was Ballyhaunis who were on the front foot and got themselves a goal to get right back into the match, CBS responded in style and corner forward Jack McGahon added a second goal for the CBS followed by two excellent points from Darragh Walsh. CBS had regained control of the match and Gillooly continued to cause havoc up top with his pace. Ballyhaunis left Darragh Walsh unmarked out at the 45 and he ran through and unleashed an unstoppable shot into the corner of the net to leave the CBS leading 3-11 to 1-6 after 12 minutes of the second half this killed the game off as a contest The CBS introduced Keith Doyle for Kevin Martin on the 42Nd minute he took up a sweeper position to prevent any Ballyhaunis attacks. From there the CBS closed out the game adding four more points from McNamara, Walsh and Gillooly. The CBS march on to the Connacht B League Semi Final with a convincing victory over Ballyhaunis CS. Final Score CBS 3-15 Ballyhaunis CS 1-7
