1 Explanation
Mr tom is a novel set around the first world war.As you can expect from a huge war there is a great risk to large cities of being blown to pieces by the opposing opposition,such cities like this were London which was at risk of being bombed by Germany.The novel is about a young scrawny sickly looking boys named William Beech who is forced by his mother to live in a town called Littlewierwold which is located in the countryside where there was less risk of bombing to occur.By doing this we get our first impression of William's mother which is caring for her boy but as we read on the boys sickly condition has only one cause which is his mother's 'soft' beatings the novel shows how powerful his mothers was over William and how he was greatly tricked and lied to as his mother influenced him to think and to act differently Example: he thought that he was lucky to get 'soft' beatings where as he shouldn't of got beatings at all.The novel also shows how the man who took care of William in the countryside called Mr Tom got along with William who also soon formed a strong loving relationship with William way better than Williams mother and shows the progression and regression between the took characters.

The novel was wrote by Michelle Magorian.She is an English author of children's books.She was born on the 6th of November 1947.She is best known for this novel as it won the 1982 Guardian Prize for British children's books.She is also an actress and lives in Portsmouth Hampshire.
3My Opinion
In my opinion I think It Is a good book because I think It Is well written which also makes It interesting to the target audience which Is children.I like it as it Is easy to follow and understand and how It shows the characters progressing and regressing as It makes It realistic.And finally I like the novel as It has brilliant themes like tension ad anger which makes it gripping.
