Shall I Compare Thee is a poem written by William Shakespeare. I studied this poem for my English Junior cert higher level paper that I completed earlier this year.
This poem is very well written. Throughout the poem, Shakespeare try's to find something that is good enough to be compared to his partner " shall I compare thee to a summers day", but then realises that there is nothing good enough to compare him/her to. Shakespeare then decides to give his partner the best gift of all, which is eternal life "so long as men can breath and eyes can see, so long lives this and this gives life to thee"
I'm my opinion this poem is one of Shakespeare's best pieces of work and is certainly my favourite because it was very easy to understand and I found it very simple to learn.
