Ten time Grammy award-winning singer Adele has returned from a three-year hiatus with her new single “Hello”. Ms. Adkins took a break from releasing music in 2012 to focus on her son and relationship but after two years of work, her new album “25” will come out on November 20th 2015. “Hello” is the lead single of the album and was released October 23rd. The song is co-written by Adele herself along with Greg Kurstin who also co-wrote tracks such as “Chandelier” by Sia, “Shine” by Years and Years and “Burn” by Ellie Goulding among others.
“Hello” is a power ballad which features of course features Adele belting out her unrivalled vocals. The song has noticeable soul influences with a chamber pop twit infused. Backed by her signature grand piano and drums, Adele sings about lost relationships that she tried and failed several times to rekindle. She apologizes for “everything” she’s done but admits all she could was try. Although it’s still a song of regret and damaged love, “Hello” features themes of self-forgiveness and acceptance. The music video dropped on the date of release and featured Adkins and actor Tristan Wilds. The video amassed 23 million views in 1 day breaking Vevo’s record for most views in 24 hours beating previous holder “Bad Blood” by Taylor Swift.
With her new album dropping November 20th, Adele’s return to the music scene could not be more welcome. “Hello” is a perfect re-entrance for undisputedly one of the world’s best singers, and more singles can be expected before 25 hits the charts.
